Recent poll reveals steep rise in racist views against Arabs in Israel; many participants feel hatred, fear when overhearing Arabic, 75 percent don’t approve of shared apartment buildings
Un recente inchiesta che ha intervistato 500 ebrei israeliani ha rivelato che il pregiudizio e il sentimento di diffidenza/razzismo nei confronti della popolazione araba è in aumento rispetto a solo due anni fa.
I matrimoni misti sono visti come un tradimento nazionale dal 50% (the marriage of a Jewish woman to an Arab man is equal to national treason), più della metà concorda sul fatto che Israele dovrebbe incoraggiare i cittadini arabi a emigrare dalla nazione (over half of the participants agreed that Israel should encourage its Arab citizens to immigrate from the country), e sempre più del 50% non vorrebbe lavorare sotto la direzione di un arabo (Over half of the participants said they would not want to work under the direct management of an Arab), mentre per il 55% arabi ed ebrei dovrebbero avere spazi per il divertimento separati (55 percent said “Arabs and Jews should be separated at entertainment sites”).
Alla domanda su cosa pensassero della cultura araba, il 37 % ha risposto di considerarla inferiore (When asked what they thought of Arab culture, over 37 percent replied, “The Arab culture is inferior.”).
Il Center against racism si dichiara veramente preoccupato e chiede l'intervento da parte del governo, soprattutto a livello educativo.
