This will be the worst Eid of my life

While Gazans should be preparing for the Eid Al Fitr, the fight for survival has become all the more pressing. A 46 year old English teacher, Majed Rashid, said, “There is no taste for this Eid, it's a sad Eid.” Rashid continued to speak candidly. “This will be the worst Eid of my life because we are facing the worst humanitarian situation yet. There are no salaries due to the siege imposed on us by the American administration. If you have children then you know what I mean. I don’t have enough money to buy new clothes, candies, toys and Edeyyah [money given to children at Eid] for my four kids.” Speaking from Gaza, the school teacher added, “We are living a miserable life full of hardships and obstacles. This Eid will be blinded by darkness as we suffer the lack of electricity since the Israelis bombed the only power plant which provides electricity to 45 percent of Gaza Strip residents.”
Mentre gli abitanti di Gaza si preparano per l'Eid Al Fitr, la lotta per la sopravvivenza è diventata sempre più pressante. Parlando da Gaza, l'insegnante di scuola ha aggiunto "Stiamo vivendo una vita misera piena di difficoltà e ostacoli. Questo Eid sarà oscurato dal buio perchè stiamo patendo la mancanza di elericità da quando gli israeliani hanno bombardato l'unica centrale che fornisce elettricità al 45% dei residenti nella Striscia di Gaza".

Al di là di questo, con una situazione che a Gaza è sicuramente la peggiore rispetto al resto della Palestina, i palestinesi tirano fuori ogni risorsa possibile perchè questo Eid non sia così triste e tutti i bimbi possano avere dolciumi e regali e le strade sono piene di gente che pregusta la prossima festa della fine del digiuno del Ramadan (v.
